valentine's

It's Valentine week at our house!
I made a woven heart basket for my husband and each of our children to hang on their doorknobs. Each day I will give them a small treat or a special note.
So far my children have loved the chocolates. And I know my husband will not object to receiving a few little love notes.

time flies

This is my third attempt to post a few words. I first tried at the beginning of the month, then again a week later and wow here we are now, the month has almost flown by. Thinking back on 2008 I feel the same way, the year has flown by. I realize that setting goals has never been more important to me than at this time. I don't want the time to just fly by. I want to be the super fun mom I always wanted to be, not just the busy mom with so much to do.
A couple of my children's friends invited them to go skiing with them during Christmas break and I realized that they barely know how to ski and snowboard. We live very close to 7 ski resorts and never seem to make the time to go (shame on me). So new years resolution #1 is to take the family skiing at least once a year.
Here is a beautiful picture of Deer Valley Ski Resort.

holiday greetings!

We have been away from the office for a few weeks. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

We were blessed with a lot of snow on Christmas. I love the snow! I love the beautiful snowflakes, each one a tiny miracle with no two alike! This alone causes awe, wonder and amazement at God's glorious creations.
My mother taught me to cut-out snowflakes when I was very young. We cut-out snowflakes each year and each year my snowflake designs were increasing in beauty until I have surpassed her beautiful designs with my own beautiful and intricate designs.
Did I mention that I love snowflakes! I have been inspired by Wilson A. Bentley's life and work. I would check-out his book 'Snow Crystals' from the library often to view the beautiful snow crystals. 'Snowflake Bentley' is a charming children's book about his life.
My husband, knowing my love of snowflakes, gave me "The Little Book of Snowflakes" and 'The Magic of Snowflakes' by Kenneth Libbrecht for my birthday a few years ago. The pictures are amazing!

fall is in the air

Fall has definitely arrived. The other day it was cold and rainy, it was the perfect day to stay inside and make the house smell wonderful with freshly baked homemade bread. So that's what I did. I have also been creating beautiful place settings with my fall splendor line (of course) for Thanksgiving Dinner. Here's a sneak peek....

going green!

recycle, regift & rejoice with this itty bitty purse and album.
The purse was made from a soap package I found at Pier 1.
It measures just 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".
The itty bitty album was made by cutting 2 strips of card stock 2" high. I scored each strip at 2" intervals leaving enough room on one of the strips for the flap that folds to the front. On the strip with the flap, at the end of the last score, I made 4 additional scores just apart from each other, using about 1/2" of the strip, before the flap so it would fold over nicely. I fan folded each strip and attached the strip with the flap, to the other on the last fold. I decorated each page of the album with coordinating patterns. Using a tiny strip of paper, attached only to the front, I made a closure for the album.
I found making the itty bitty purse and album much easier than writing the instructions for it. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

stick family

Pyzam Family Sticker Toy

This is our stick family. I had to LOL while creating this, it was a ton of fun. I like a little nonsense once in a while, it keeps life interesting. Click on the picture and make one of your family.
